@Man In Montreal I agree with you totally about what’s going on under the hood However, I worked as Analyst in Google’s search quality team and I know what goes on under the hood This doesn’t mean that I should not use Google!

I am neither an advocate nor a disbleiever of closed applications. When I said what I said about skype I was going by popularity and numbers Yes I’d be doing a post Ekiga. I love open source philosophy but I’d not like to be loathsome to closed apps or push my readers to only stick with open source. I think I am too naive to push people to make a choice decisions. I think they are smarter than me to make a choice for themselves and with comments like yours in this section I am sure their choice will become a little easier

Not to rain on your parade but…
You should not call Skype “Best Instant Messenger”
Skype is a closed-source application belonging to Ebay.
You -don’t- know what is going on under the hood with Skype.

You should encourage your readers to use Ekiga, an open-source standards-compliant messenger.
