Twitter is a well know status update and status sharing site. Also there is no dearth of desktop applications for twitter. Some popular one’s are tweetdeck and twhirl. Both of these are adobe AIR based applications. Then there are the one’s which integrate with your browser like twitterfox and twitterbar. In linx there are also fancy or rather geeky ways of tweeting from the terminal itself.

HechteTwitter is a twitter client for linux environment which is unintrusive and simple. It’s a lightweight desktop Twitter client, written in GTK+ and Ruby, whose only elusive goal is not to suck.
