The NetBeans project consists of an<a href="../../../../features/index.html">open-source IDE</a> and an <a href="../../../../features/platform/index.html">application platform</a> that enable developers to rapidly create web, enterprise, desktop, and mobile applications using the Java platform, as well as JavaFX, PHP, JavaScript and Ajax, Ruby and Ruby on Rails, Groovy and Grails, and C/C++.</p></blockquote>
<p>Release overview of NetBeans 6.9</p>
<blockquote><p>NetBeans IDE 6.9 introduces the JavaFX Composer, a visual layout tool for visually building JavaFX GUI applications, similar to the Swing GUI builder for Java SE applications. Additional highlights include OSGi interoperability for NetBeans Platform applications and support for developing OSGi bundles with Maven; support for JavaFX SDK 1.3, PHP Zend framework, and Ruby on Rails 3.0; as well as improvements to the Java Editor, Java Debugger, issue tracking, and more.</p></blockquote>

	<script src="http://digg.com/tools/diggthis.js" type="text/javascript"></script></div></div><p style="text-align: justify;">Fedora 13 comes with Mozilla Firefox and by default doesn&#8217;t have Chromium installed. Chromium is an open source browser developed by Google. The reasons Chromium is not part of official Fedora repository is well explained by Joe Brockmeier at <a href="http://ostatic.com/blog/making-projects-easier-to-package-why-chromium-isnt-in-fedora" target="_blank">Making Projects Easier to Package: Why Chromium Isn&#8217;t in Fedora</a>. However, <a href="https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Chromium" target="_blank">Tom ‘Spot’ Callaway</a>, Fedora Engineering Manager, has created a rpm repository with precompiled versions of the chromium browser. Following is how we can install Chromium on Fedora 13.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><a href="http://linuxhub.net/wp-content/uploads/2010/06/Chromium-512.png" rel="lightbox[949]"><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-951" style="border: 0pt none;" title="Chromium-512" src="http://linuxhub.net/wp-content/uploads/2010/06/Chromium-512.png" alt="" width="256" height="256" /></a></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">1. Open a terminal window and type</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">
<pre class="brush: bash">su -</pre>
</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">2. Create a chromium.repo file in /etc/yum.repos.d using the following command at Terminal</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">
<pre class="brush: bash">gedit /etc/yum.repos.d/chromium.repo</pre>
</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">3. In the opened file paste the following code</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">
<pre class="brush: bash">[chromium]
name=Chromium Test Packages
baseurl=http://spot.fedorapeople.org/chromium/F$releasever/
enabled=1
gpgcheck=0</pre>
</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">4.Save and close the file and at the terminal type the following command</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">
<pre class="brush: bash">yum install chromium</pre>
</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">This should install Chromium on your Fedora 13. You can find it under Applications &gt; Internet &gt; Chromim Web Browser. Following a screeshot of Chromium running on my Fedora 13.</p>
