How to install Docky on Linux Mint 9 {Isadora}

10

Docky is a branched out application from Gnome-Do and has turned into a full fledged dock application for Linux.

Docky is a frontend for GNOME Do (Do) that introduces an entirely new way to interact with Do. Docky helps Do become more directly involved with your desktop by providing a persistent mouse based Dock interface while remaining true to Do’s keyboard only interaction. Being tied directly into Do allows Docky to be adaptive and dynamic. As your usage patterns change, so too does Docky. For everything Do can do, Docky can too.

Installing Skype in Linux Mint 9 using repositories

13

Skype is one of the most popular Voip client that allows users to make free calls from their computers over the Internet. Installing Skype using deb file on Linux Mint is the way most of us have used. However, this doesn’t ensure an automatic update of skype as and when there is a new version released. Which makes it tedious to update it all the time. However, using the repositories we can ensure that whenever there is a new release skype is updated directly using the update manager in Linux Mint. Let’s see how to install Skype on Linux Mint 9 {Isadora} using repositories.

Linux Mint is the new addition to LinuxHub

3

LinuxHub has seen a great support from all it’s readers and is enhancing the scope of it’s coverage by bringing Linux Mint under it’s umbrella. As we have been covering news and how-to’s related to Ubuntu and OpenSuse, we plan to cover the same topics for Linux Mint. We however, will not compromise on the content related to other distros.

We believe that this will enrich your experience with LinuxHub. As a surprise we might have a dedicated writer for posts related to Linux Mint and hence not reducing the number of posts related to Ubuntu and OpenSuse. We are very e,xcited to have the More >
