FrostWire is one of the most powerful free and open source based P2P client. I find it really great for P2P music. However, as all the P2P come with piracy issues, so does FrostWire. FrostWire, a Gnutella Peer-to-Peer client, is a collaborative effort from many Open Source and freelance developers from all around the world.

Download and Installation

1. You can download a deb file of FrostWire for your Ubuntu here.

2. Double click the downloaded deb file (frostwire-4.18.0.i586.deb) to begin the installation of FrostWire.

3. Depending on your Internet connectivity speed it’ll download supported files and will install FrostWire.

Optional

If you don’t have java, FrostWire will download and install Java on your machine. However, you’ll have to accept the TOS of Java.

Running FrostWire

Once installed you can run FrostWire by typing frostwire at the run prompt (ALT+F2). Following is what you’ll see once you start FrostWire for the first time.
