If you have just too much of stuff to worry about on previous versions of Ubuntu, I’d suggest to wait for the final release in April. That’s right the current release is alpha (not even Beta) so please upgrade at your own risk.

Following is what I did to upgrade from Ubuntu 9.10 Karmic Koala to Ubuntu 10.04 Alpha Lucid Lynx.

1. Bring up run prompt by hitting ALT+F2 and type the following command to bring up the update manager.

update-manager -d

You’ll now see that update manager shows “New Ubuntu release ’10.04′ is available”.

2. Hit the upgrade button.

3. Follow the onscreen instructions to upgrade to Ubuntu 10.04 Lucid Lynx.

Enjoy the new Ubuntu upgrade. There’s been a lot of buzz about the suggested changes in the upcoming  Ubuntu 10.04. Cant wait to see the release.
